Hot Damn.
Good News. TransIowa 4 is in the works. Dave Pals is helping Mark this year, so it will no doubt be a great event. It will be interesting to learn the registration process this year as well as the format and and such. I assume it will be self-supported again as that will keep the spirit of the ride intact. I also imagine it will be no less challenging. The tentative date appears to be April 26, 2008. Can't wait to visit Iowa again.
So I guess now it is time to start planning the next 8 or so months of riding. It's really not that difficult. October, November, and December will be for cyclo-cross racing, with hopefully a couple endurance events mixed in. At the least a few long haul trucker rides. The first few months of the year will consist of the annual snake creek time trial rides with hopefully some long haul trucker rides mixed in. So I think that one of the goals for preparation this year is to not quit the riding for the 2 months leading up to TI. Last year I rode maybe 2-300 miles total in the 2 months leading up to the race. Not the best preparation.
I don't intend to necessarily train for this one. (As I know that several people would laugh if I claimed to.) TransIowa, however, gives me a framweork for planning the next 8 months of riding. It gives me a reason to maintain and slowly further increase my long haul mileage. Other than that, it is business as usual. Ride for the fun of it. Race when it appeals to me. And plan to roll 300+ miles in about 30 hours in April.
